If you are a new mama, breastfeeding or recently gave birth, you are probably super curious about many of the new weight loss drugs including, Ozempic and Semaglutide, hitting the market. As a fitness professional, mom of four, and nutrition expert, I have some thoughts on these products, and I also wanted to make a safe, more natural option for breastfeeding mamas to help them lose weight without losing milk supply, and also safe for them and baby.
Introducing GSLIM, a safe, natural alternative to Ozempic for breastfeeding and postpartum mamas. I am obsessed with this daily supplement because it has the power of Ozempic without the need for prescription or the side effects. It reduces appetite, stops blood sugar spikes, supports insulin levels and helps you finally feel full for hours. You can breastfeed without the constant hunger and cravings that are killing your weight loss goals. Hop on the waitlist now, so you can be one of the first to get the new GSLIM.
There are some amazing natural ingredients, backed by science that can act like the prescription weight loss drugs without the side effects, and without the prescription. The safety of ozempic and it's effects on human milk is still fairly uknown, so I wanted to make sure I could create a supplement that breastfeeding mothers can take daily to get similar results. Sometimes new mamas work so hard to eat their healthy diet, stay on their workout plan and also keep up their milk supply without any movement on the scale. Cravings, hunger and an increased appetite make it really hard to lose weight and keep up milk supply. I will go over everything you need to know on Ozempic and breastfeeding and natural alternatives, so you can make an informed decision on if a weight loss drug is a good choice for you.

There isn't much science or clinical trials regarding the potenial risks of breastfeeding moms taking weight loss medication in general, and these new drugs haven't been studied much for adverse effects on breastfeeding or pregnant women. Because of the potential risks, I think until there are human studies on the use of Ozempic while breastfeeding, it is best to focus on natural alternatives that give very similar results. Just like many other drugs out there, there are natural supplements you can take that prove to be just as effective with less side effects. I have a whole post on glp-1 medications in general, where I go over how they work, and what you can take in stead of them. In this post, I am going to specifically talk about Ozempic, and the new GSLIM, an Ozempic alternative that is safe for breatsfeeding because it combines the power of natural ingredients like lemon extract and fenugreek. GSLIM is a supplement you can take, which is better then having to take a subcutaneous injection.
What is Ozempic?
Ozempic is the brand name for semaglutide, a prescription medication primarily used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is part of a class of drugs known as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which mimic the effects of a natural hormone called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). This hormone helps regulate blood sugar levels and appetite. Low blood sugar fluctuations are really difficult to manage while breastfeeding, and many new mamas eat a lot of carbs and sugar, which spikes the blood sugar back up. Ozmpic is a great solution to helping people get off the blood sugar roller coaster that causes a lot of cravings and increased appetite. One of the major benefits people see from taking Ozempic is the lack of hunger and appetite. Food just isn't on your mind any more, which is really freeing for many people that feel hungry all the time. You have to get a prescription from your healthcare provider, so it isn't as accessible for many, but a lot of healthcare professionals are working to provide easier access prescriptions through online visitis.
Uses of Ozempic
- Diabetes Management: Ozempic helps lower blood sugar levels in conjunction with diet and exercise.
- Weight Management: Though not officially approved by the food and drug administration as a weight loss drug under this brand, Ozempic has been observed to promote weight loss in patients. A related medication, Wegovy (also semaglutide), is specifically approved for obesity management.
- Cardiovascular Risk Reduction: For patients with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease, Ozempic can reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes.
How It Works
Ozempic works by:
- Stimulating insulin secretion in response to meals.
- Reducing blood glucose levels released by the liver.
- Slowing gastric emptying to promote a feeling of fullness, which can help with weight loss. This is key to reducing food intake, and one of the best effects of ozempic for weight loss.
Administration
Ozempic is typically administered as a once-weekly injection using a pre-filled pen. Patients inject it under the skin (subcutaneously) in areas like the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Common Side Effects
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea or constipation
- Decreased appetite
- Stomach pain
Recent Studies on Ozempic and Semaglutide while Breastfeeding:
There is limited research available on the potential side effects of taking drugs like Ozempic while breastfeeding. However, a recent study found that there was no evdience of semaglutide in human breast milk from mothers taking the drug subcutaneously. Their breastfed infants experienced no adverse effects. No special precautions appear to be necessary. The study reported, "Eight nursing mothers were using subcutaneous semaglutide in doses ranging from 0.25 to 1 mg weekly. Their infants ranged in age from 4 to 23 months of age and were mixed fed. They were fed breastmilk for 3 to 9 weeks while their mothers were taking semaglutide. All of the infants were reported to have normal growth and development by their mothers."
This is great news for breastfeeding and postpartum mamas who need help losing the weight gained during pregnancy. This study alone may not be enough to really know the possible risks on breast milk production or a breastfed infant, but overall it appears that there are many potential benefits for new mamas tyring to lose weight.
Meet GSLIM, a natural, prescription-free, GLP-1 supplement to help breastfeeding mamas lose weight.
GSLIM is a prescription-free option for breastfeeding mamas to lose weight and enhance GLP-1 production. It includes specific ingredients that are found to support gut-health, manage appetitite, regulate blood sugar levels, and support insulin levels.
Say hello to the key ingredients:
Lemon Fruit Extract for Glucose Regulation:
Lemon fruit extract, derived from the juice, peel, or pulp of lemons (Citrus limon), is rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and bioactive compounds. These components provide a variety of health benefits, making lemon fruit extract a popular ingredient in supplements, skincare products, and health drinks. Lemon fruit extract is completely safe for breastfeeding, and a good choice to manage gut hormone health, insulin sensitivity, and enhancing GLP-1 secretion.
Lemon fruit extract's bioactive components support GLP-1 activity or secretion by improving metabolic health and glucose regulation. The benefits stem from compounds like vitamin C, flavonoids (such as hesperidin), pectin, and citric acid, which promote mechanisms linked to GLP-1 function.
Saffron Extract for Appetitie Control (No More Hunger):
Saffron extract, derived from the dried stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower, is a highly valued natural supplement known for its powerful health benefits. Rich in bioactive compounds such as crocin, safranal, and picrocrocin, saffron has been traditionally used in both culinary and medicinal contexts.
Saffron extract is not a direct GLP-1 receptor agonist like medications such as semaglutide. However, research and properties of saffron suggest it might indirectly influence mechanisms related to GLP-1 secretion or activity, especially in the context of metabolic health, appetite regulation, and glucose management.
Red Orange Fruit Extract For Insulin Sensitivity:
Red orange fruit extract, derived from varieties of blood oranges such as Moro, Tarocco, and Sanguinello, is rich in natural compounds like antioxidants, vitamins, and bioactive phytochemicals. These components make it a popular ingredient in dietary supplements, skincare products, and functional foods.
Red orange fruit extract supports mechanisms associated with GLP-1 function and metabolic health due to its bioactive compounds. These compounds, particularly antioxidants like anthocyanins, flavonoids, and vitamin C, play a role in improving insulin sensitivity, reducing inflammation, and supporting glucose metabolism.
Fenugreek For Milk Supply and Fat Metabolism:
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a popular herb used in traditional medicine and as a culinary spice. It has gained attention for its potential role in weight management, thanks to its bioactive compounds, including fiber, saponins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. These compounds may help regulate various aspects of metabolism, appetite, and fat storage.
Here are the potential ways fenugreek may contribute to weight management:
1. Appetite Suppression
- Fenugreek seeds are rich in soluble fiber, particularly galactomannan, which expands in the stomach and creates a sense of fullness. This can reduce overall calorie intake by helping control hunger and reducing the urge to snack between meals.
- The fiber also helps in delaying gastric emptying, which prolongs satiety and reduces cravings.
2. Regulating Blood Sugar Levels
- Fenugreek has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels. Lower blood sugar reduces the likelihood of fat storage and promotes better fat metabolism, making it easier to manage weight.
- The seeds have a low glycemic index, which helps in controlling blood sugar spikes after meals and preventing fat accumulation.
3. Boosting Fat Metabolism
- Fenugreek may increase lipolysis (fat breakdown) and help prevent fat accumulation in adipose tissue. Certain compounds in fenugreek, such as saponins, can support fat metabolism by stimulating specific enzymes that break down fat.
- Some studies suggest that fenugreek might help in reducing body fat percentage and improving overall body composition.
4. Supporting Digestive Health
- Fenugreek’s high fiber content also promotes gut health by supporting regular bowel movements and preventing constipation. A healthy digestive system is crucial for efficient nutrient absorption and waste elimination, both of which are important for weight management.
5. Enhancing Metabolism
- Fenugreek can help improve overall metabolic function, as its active compounds have been found to increase energy expenditure, promoting more efficient use of calories. This could lead to increased fat burning during rest and physical activity.
6. Reducing Inflammation
- Chronic inflammation is linked to obesity and metabolic diseases. Fenugreek has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce inflammation in fat tissue and improve metabolic function, potentially aiding weight loss.
